D avi mandou o mensageiro dizer a Joabe: “Não fique preocupado com isso, pois a espada não escolhe a quem devorar. Reforce o ataque à cidade até destruí-la”. E ainda insistiu com o mensageiro que encorajasse Joabe.

Then David said to the man, “Tell Joab, ‘Do not let this thing trouble you. For the sword kills one as well as another. Make your battle against the city stronger and destroy it.’ Comfort him with these words.”
