D avid şi-a zis: „Într-o zi voi pieri lovit de mâna lui Saul. Nimic nu este mai bine pentru mine decât să fug în ţara filistenilor. Astfel, Saul va renunţa să mă mai caute în tot teritoriul lui Israel şi voi scăpa din mâna lui.“

¶ And David said in his heart, In the end I shall be killed some day by the hand of Saul; there is nothing better for me than that I should escape once and for all into the land of the Philistines; and Saul shall despair of me, to seek me any more within the borders of Israel; so shall I escape out of his hand.
