D ar poporul i-a zis lui Saul: – Chiar trebuie să moară Ionatan, cel care a adus această mare victorie pentru Israel? Nicidecum! Viu este Domnul că nici măcar un fir de păr nu va cădea la pământ din capul lui, deoarece cu ajutorul Domnului a adus el victoria în această zi. Bărbaţii l-au salvat astfel pe Ionatan şi n-a fost ucis.

But the people said to Saul, “Must Jonathan die, who has saved all these people of Israel? Far from it! As the Lord lives, not one hair of his head will fall to the ground. For he has worked with God this day.” So the people saved Jonathan and he did not die.
