F iecare bărbat din popor a tăiat câte o creangă şi l-a urmat pe Abimelek. Au aruncat crengile acelea peste refugiu şi i-au dat foc atât lui, cât şi oamenilor dinăuntru. Aşa au murit toţi locuitorii din turnul Şehemului, aproape o mie de bărbaţi şi femei.
