D in pricina aceasta a ieşit zvonul între fraţi că acel ucenic nu va muri. Dar Isus nu-i spusese că nu va muri, ci: „Dacă vreau ca el să rămână până vin Eu, ce te priveşte pe tine?!“

Then went this saying abroad among the brethren, that that disciple should not die: yet Jesus said not unto him, He shall not die; but, If I will that he tarry till I come, what is that to thee?
