Î n cheful vinului, Belşaţar a poruncit să fie aduse vasele de aur şi de argint pe care tatăl său, Nebucadneţar, le luase din Templul de la Ierusalim, pentru ca împăratul să bea din ele împreună cu nobilii săi, cu soţiile sale şi cu ţiitoarele sale.

Belshazzar, while he was tasting the wine, commanded that the gold and silver vessels which his father Nebuchadnezzar had taken out of the temple which was in Jerusalem be brought, that the king and his lords, his wives, and his concubines might drink from them.
