Q uelli sulla roccia sono coloro i quali, quando ascoltano la parola, la ricevono con gioia; ma costoro non hanno radice, credono per un certo tempo ma, quando viene la prova, si tirano indietro.

And those upon the rock who, when they hear, receive and welcome it with joy; but these have no root. They believe for a while, and in time of trial and temptation fall away (withdraw and stand aloof).
