L ’ho forse concepito io tutto questo popolo? L’ho forse dato alla luce io, che tu mi dica: “Portalo sul tuo seno”, come la balia porta il bimbo lattante, fino al paese che tu hai promesso con giuramento ai suoi padri?

Did I give birth to all these people? Did I bring them out, that You should say to me, ‘Carry them close to your heart as a nurse carries a nursing baby, to the land You promised their fathers’?
