I abes invocò il Dio d’Israele, dicendo: «Benedicimi, ti prego; allarga i miei confini; sia la tua mano con me e preservami dal male in modo che io non debba soffrire!» E Dio gli concesse quanto aveva chiesto.

Jabez called on the God of Israel, saying, “O, if only You would bring good to me and give me more land! If only Your hand might be with me, that You would keep me from being hurt!” And God gave him what he asked for.
