J abets invocò il DIO d'Israele, dicendo: «Oh, se tu mi benedicessi e allargassi i miei confini e la tua mano fosse con me e mi preservassi dal male sí che io non abbia a soffrire!». E DIO gli concesse ciò che aveva chiesto.

Jabez called on the God of Israel, saying, “O, if only You would bring good to me and give me more land! If only Your hand might be with me, that You would keep me from being hurt!” And God gave him what he asked for.
