T hese were the sons of Israel, the heads of fathers’ houses. They were the leaders of thousands and of hundreds. These were the captains who worked for the king in anything to do with the armies which came in and went out every month of the year. There were 24, 000 men in each army.

Y los hijos de Israel según su número, que eran cabezas paternas, capitanes de mil y de cien, y sus oficiales de los que servían al rey en todos los negocios de las cuadrillas que entraban y salían cada mes en todos los meses del año, cada cuadrilla era de veinticuatro mil.
