T he families of the writers who lived at Jabez were the Tirathites, the Shimeathites and the Sucathites. These are the Kenites who came from Hammath, the father of the house of Rechab.

وَعَشائِرُ الكَتَبَةِ السّاكِنِينَ فِي يَعْبِيصَ: التَّرْعاتِيُّونَ وَالشِّمْعاتِيُّونَ وَالسُّوكاتِيُّونَ. هَؤُلاءِ هُمُ القَينِيُّونَ الَّذِينَ جاءُوا مِنْ حَمَّةَ، مُؤسِّسِ مَدينَةِ بَيْتِ رَكابَ.
