B ut he did not kill the sons of the killers. Because it is written in the Book of the Law of Moses, as the Lord said, “The fathers must not be put to death for the sons. And the sons must not be put to death for the fathers. Each must be put to death for his own sin.”

Nhưng người không xử tử con cái của kẻ sát nhơn ấy, y theo lời đã chép trong sách luật pháp của Môi-se; trong đó Đức Giê-hô-va có phán rằng: Người ta sẽ không giết cha thế cho con, cũng sẽ chẳng giết con thế cho cha; mỗi người sẽ chết vì tội lỗi riêng mình.
