B ut he did not slay the children of the murderers, in compliance with what is written in the Book of the Law of Moses, in which the Lord commanded, The fathers shall not be put to death for the children, nor the children for the fathers; but every man shall die for his own sin only.

Nhưng người không xử tử con cái của kẻ sát nhơn ấy, y theo lời đã chép trong sách luật pháp của Môi-se; trong đó Đức Giê-hô-va có phán rằng: Người ta sẽ không giết cha thế cho con, cũng sẽ chẳng giết con thế cho cha; mỗi người sẽ chết vì tội lỗi riêng mình.
