T hus says the Lord of hosts: “The broad walls of Babylon shall be utterly broken, And her high gates shall be burned with fire; The people will labor in vain, And the nations, because of the fire; And they shall be weary.” Jeremiah’s Command to Seraiah

So spricht der HERR Zebaoth: Die Mauern der großen Babel sollen untergraben und ihre hohen Tore mit Feuer angesteckt werden, daß der Heiden Arbeit verloren sei, und daß verbrannt werde, was die Völker mit Mühe erbaut haben.
