T hus saith Jehovah of hosts: The broad walls of Babylon shall be utterly laid bare, and her high gates shall be burned with fire; so that the peoples will have laboured in vain, and the nations for the fire: and they shall be weary.

So spricht der HERR Zebaoth: Die Mauern der großen Babel sollen untergraben und ihre hohen Tore mit Feuer angesteckt werden, daß der Heiden Arbeit verloren sei, und daß verbrannt werde, was die Völker mit Mühe erbaut haben.
