H e created them male and female, and blessed them and called them Mankind in the day they were created.

وَخَلَقَ اللهُ النَّاسَ ذَكَراً وَأُنْثَى. وَسَمّاهُمْ أُناساً يَوْمَ خَلَقَهُمْ.
