A brí yo a mi amado, Pero mi amado se había retirado, se había ido. Tras su hablar salió mi alma. Lo busqué, y no lo hallé; Lo llamé, y no me respondió.

I opened the door to my love, but he had already gone! My heart went out to him as he spoke. I looked for him, but did not find him. I called him, but he did not answer me.
