T hen all the wicked and worthless men among those who went with David said, “Because they did not go with us, we will not give them any of the spoil that we have recovered, except to every man his wife and his children, that they may lead them away and depart.”

Allora tutti i malvagi e i perversi fra gli uomini che erano andati con Davide presero a dire: «Dato che costoro non sono venuti con noi, non daremo loro nulla del bottino che abbiamo ricuperato; ciascuno di loro riavrà sua moglie e i suoi figli; se li portino via e se ne vadano!»
