T hen all the wicked and base men who went with David said, Because they did not go with us, we will give them nothing of the spoil we have recovered, except that every man may lead away his wife and children and depart.

Allora tutti i malvagi e i perversi fra gli uomini che erano andati con Davide presero a dire: «Dato che costoro non sono venuti con noi, non daremo loro nulla del bottino che abbiamo ricuperato; ciascuno di loro riavrà sua moglie e i suoi figli; se li portino via e se ne vadano!»
