F or if, after they have escaped the defilements of the world by the knowledge of the Lord and Savior Jesus Christ, they are again entangled in them and are overcome, the last state has become worse for them than the first.

Denn so sie entflohen sind dem Unflat der Welt durch die Erkenntnis des HERRN und Heilandes Jesu Christi, werden aber wiederum in denselben verflochten und überwunden, ist mit ihnen das Letzte ärger geworden denn das Erste.
