T he men of Israel said to the Hivites, “Perhaps you are living within our land; how then shall we make a covenant with you?”

وَلَكِنَّ بَنِي إسْرائِيلَ قالُوا لِلحِوِّيِّينَ: «لَكِنْ رُبَّما تَكُونُونَ ساكِنِينَ فِي وَسَطِنا. فَكَيفَ إذاً نَعمَلُ مَعَكُمْ مُعاهَدَةً؟»
