T hese were the appointed cities for all the sons of Israel and for the stranger who sojourns among them, that whoever kills any person unintentionally may flee there, and not die by the hand of the avenger of blood until he stands before the congregation.

Queste furono le città assegnate a tutti i figli d’Israele e allo straniero residente fra loro, affinché chiunque avesse ucciso qualcuno involontariamente potesse rifugiarvisi e non avesse a morire per mano del vendicatore del sangue, prima di essere comparso davanti alla comunità.
