Joshua 20:9 ~ Giosué 20:9

T hese were the cities appointed for all the children of Israel, and for the stranger that sojourneth among them, that whosoever smiteth any one mortally without intent might flee thither, and not die by the hand of the avenger of blood, until he stood before the assembly.

Queste furono le città assegnate a tutti i figli d’Israele e allo straniero residente fra loro, affinché chiunque avesse ucciso qualcuno involontariamente potesse rifugiarvisi e non avesse a morire per mano del vendicatore del sangue, prima di essere comparso davanti alla comunità.
