T hen the king’s face grew pale and his thoughts alarmed him, and his hip joints went slack and his knees began knocking together.

Then the color and the hilarious brightness of the king’s face was changed, and his thoughts troubled and alarmed him; the joints and muscles of his hips and back gave way and his knees smote together.
