T hen David lifted up his eyes and saw the angel of the Lord standing between earth and heaven, with his drawn sword in his hand stretched out over Jerusalem. Then David and the elders, covered with sackcloth, fell on their faces.

David levantó los ojos y, al ver al ángel del Señor, que estaba entre el cielo y la tierra, y con la espada en la mano, desenvainada y extendida contra Jerusalén, tanto David como los ancianos se postraron sobre sus rostros y se cubrieron de cilicio.
