U nd da ich meinem Freund aufgetan hatte, war er weg und hingegangen. Meine Seele war außer sich, als er redete. Ich suchte ihn, aber ich fand ihn nicht; ich rief, aber er antwortete mir nicht.

I opened to my beloved; but my beloved had withdrawn himself, and was gone: my soul failed when he spake: I sought him, but I could not find him; I called him, but he gave me no answer.
