A llora Pietro si ricordò di quello che Gesú gli aveva detto: «Prima che il gallo canti, mi rinnegherai tre volte», Ed egli uscí, e pianse amaramente.

حِينَئِذٍ تَذَكَّرَ بُطرُسُ الكَلامَ الَّذِي قالَهُ يَسُوعُ لَهُ: «سَتُنكِرُنِي ثَلاثَ مَرّاتٍ قَبلَ أنْ يَصِيحَ الدِّيكُ،» فَخَرَجَ وَبَكَى بِمَرارَةٍ شَدِيدَةٍ.
