« Poiché da molto tempo hai infranto il tuo giogo, hai rotto i tuoi legami e hai detto: "Non voglio piú servire! Ma sopra ogni alto colle e sotto ogni albero verdeggiante ti sei sdraiata come una prostituta.

For long ago I broke your yoke and burst your bonds and long ago you shattered the yoke and snapped the bonds; you said, I will not serve and obey You! For upon every high hill and under every green tree you prostrated yourself, playing the harlot.
