F igli di Ruben, primogenito d'Israele. Egli era davvero il primogenito, ma siccome aveva profanato il letto di suo padre, la sua primogenitura fu data ai figli di Giuseppe, figlio d'Israele, così la genealogia non è riportata in base alla primogenitura.

The sons of Reuben the firstborn of Israel (for he was the firstborn; but, because he defiled his father’s couch, his birthright was given to the sons of Joseph the son of Israel; and the genealogy is not to be listed according to the birthright.
