A bsalom aveva posto a capo dell'esercito Amasa, invece di Joab Or Amasa era figlio di un uomo chiamato Jithra, l'Israelita, il quale aveva avuto rapporti sessuali con Abigail figlia di Nahash, sorella di Tseruiah, madre di Joab.

Absalom set Amasa over the army instead of Joab. Now Amasa was the son of a man whose name was Ithra the Israelite, who went in to Abigail the daughter of Nahash, sister to Zeruiah, Joab’s mother.
