A llora il re disse: «La mano di Joab non è forse con te in tutto questo?». La donna rispose: «Com'è vero che tu vivi, o re mio signore, la cosa sta né piú né meno come ha detto il re mio signore, è stato infatti il tuo servo Joab che mi ha dato questi ordini e ha messo tutte queste parole in bocca alla tua serva.
