M a Onan, sapendo che quella discendenza non sarebbe stata sua, quando si univa alla moglie di suo fratello, disperdeva il suo seme per terra, per non dare discendenza al fratello.

But when Onan knew that the seed should not be his own, it came to pass when he went in to his brother's wife, that he spilled on the ground, in order to give no seed to his brother.
