T hus was Midian subdued before the children of Israel, so that they lifted up their heads no more. And the country was in quietness forty years in the days of Gideon.

Assim foram abatidos os midianitas diante dos filhos de Israel, e nunca mais levantaram a cabeça. E a terra teve sossego, por quarenta anos nos dias de Gideão.
