A nd the messenger answered and said, Israel fled before the Philistines, and there has been also a great slaughter among the people, and thy two sons also, Hophni and Phinehas, are dead, and the ark of God was taken.

Cel ce aducea vestea aceasta, ca răspuns, a zis:,, Israel a fugit dinaintea Filistenilor, şi poporul a suferit o mare înfrîngere; şi chiar cei doi fii ai tăi, Hofni şi Fineas, au murit, şi chivotul Domnului a fost luat.``
