T hen the king said unto the footmen that stood about him, Turn and slay the priests of the LORD because their hand also is with David and because they knew when he fled and did not show it to me. But the slaves of the king would not put forth their hands to fall upon the priests of the LORD.

Allora il re ordinò alle guardie che lo attorniavano: «Volgetevi e uccidete i sacerdoti dell'Eterno, perché sono anch'essi dalla parte di Davide e perché sapevano che egli era fuggito, ma non mi hanno avvertito». Ma i servi del re non vollero stendere le mani per colpire i sacerdoti dell'Eterno.
