T hey said therefore among themselves, Let us not rend it, but cast lots for it, whose it shall be; that the scripture might be fulfilled, which says, They parted my garments among them, and for my raiment they did cast lots. These things therefore the soldiers did.

“Não a rasguemos”, disseram uns aos outros. “Vamos decidir por sorteio quem ficará com ela.” Isso aconteceu para que se cumprisse a Escritura que diz: “Dividiram as minhas roupas entre si, e tiraram sortes pelas minhas vestes”. Foi o que os soldados fizeram.
