E invocó Jabes al Dios de Israel, diciendo: ¡Oh si me dieras bendición, y ensancharas mi término, y si tu mano fuera conmigo, y me libraras de mal, que no me dañe! E hizo Dios que le viniera lo que pidió.

And Jabez called on the God of Israel, saying, Oh that thou would bless me indeed and enlarge my border and that thy hand might be with me and that thou would deliver me from evil, that it may not grieve me! And God granted him that which he requested.
