و َكانَ فِي الأرْضِ كَثِيرُونَ مِنْ غَيرِ بَنِي إسْرائِيلَ، مِمَّنْ لَمْ يَسْتَطِيعُوا القَضاءَ عَلَيْهِمْ. فَكانَ هُناكَ أمُّورِيُّونَ، وَحِثِّيُّونَ، وَفِرِزِّيُّونَ، وَحَوِيُّونَ، وَيَبُوسِيُّونَ.

Now there were people left of the Amorites, the Hittites, the Perizzites, the Hivites and the Jebusites, who were not of the people of Israel.
