A nd the people said to Saul, Shall Jonathan die, who has wrought this great salvation in Israel? Far be it! Jehovah liveth, there shall not a hair of his head fall to the ground; for he has wrought with God this day. So the people delivered Jonathan, that he died not.

Dar poporul i-a zis lui Saul: – Chiar trebuie să moară Ionatan, cel care a adus această mare victorie pentru Israel? Nicidecum! Viu este Domnul că nici măcar un fir de păr nu va cădea la pământ din capul lui, deoarece cu ajutorul Domnului a adus el victoria în această zi. Bărbaţii l-au salvat astfel pe Ionatan şi n-a fost ucis.
