S peak, I pray you, in the ears of all the men of Shechem, Whether is better for you, that all the sons of Jerubbaal, who are threescore and ten persons, rule over you, or that one rule over you? remember also that I am your bone and your flesh.

Spuneţi, vă rog, în auzul tuturor locuitorilor din Sihem:, Este mai bine pentru voi ca şaptezeci de oameni, toţi fii ai lui Ierubaal, să stăpînească peste voi, sau un singur om să stăpînească peste voi?` Şi aduceţi-vă aminte că eu sînt os din oasele voastre şi carne din carnea voastră.``
