N ow the passover of the Jews was at hand: and many went up to Jerusalem out of the country before the passover, to purify themselves.

وَكانَ عِيْدُ الفِصْحِ اليَهُودِيِّ قَدِ اقْتَرَبَ، فَذَهَبَ كَثِيْرُونَ مِنَ الرِّيْفِ إلَى مَدِيْنَةِ القُدْسِ قَبلَ الفِصْحِ لِيُطَهِّرُوا أنفُسَهُمْ.
