T hen he took his eldest son that should have reigned in his stead, and offered him for a burnt-offering upon the wall. And there was great wrath against Israel: and they departed from him, and returned to their own land.

Atunci a luat pe întâiul său născut, care urma să fie rege în locul lui şi l-a adus ca ardere de tot pe zidul cetăţii. O mare indignare l-a cuprins pe Israel. Drept urmare Israel s-a retras din Moab, întorcându-se acasă.
