N ow the chief priests and the whole council (the Sanhedrin) sought to get false witnesses to testify against Jesus, so that they might put Him to death;

وَكانَ كِبارُ الكَهَنَةِ، وَجَمِيعُ أعضاءِ مَجلِسِ اليَهُودِ يَبحَثُونَ عَنْ شَهادَةِ زُورٍ ضِدَّ يَسُوعَ لِكَي يَقتُلُوهُ.
