H e has gone this day and sacrificed oxen, fatlings, and sheep in abundance, and has invited all the king’s sons, the captains of the host, and Abiathar the priest; and they eat and drink before him and say, Long live King Adonijah!

Căci el a coborât astăzi, a tăiat vite, viţei îngrăşaţi şi oi în mare număr şi i-a invitat pe toţi fiii regelui, pe conducătorii oştirii şi pe preotul Abiatar. Chiar acum ei mănâncă şi beau înaintea lui şi strigă: „Trăiască regele Adonia!“
