T he Jews, therefore, that the bodies might not remain on the cross on the sabbath, since it was the preparation, (for that sabbath day was a great one,) asked of Pilate that their legs may be broken, and they taken away.

猶 太 人 因 這 日 是 預 備 日 ， 又 因 那 安 息 日 是 個 大 日 ， 就 求 彼 拉 多 叫 人 打 斷 他 們 的 腿 ， 把 他 們 拿 去 ， 免 得 屍 首 當 安 息 日 留 在 十 字 架 上 。
