A nd Jehovah saith unto Moses, `Say unto the sons of Israel, Ye a stiff-necked people; one moment -- I come up into thy midst, and have consumed thee; and now, put down thine ornaments from off thee, and I know what I do to thee;'

Porque el Señor había dicho a Moisés: “Dile a los Israelitas: ‘Ustedes son un pueblo terco. Si por un momento Yo me presentara en medio de ustedes, los destruiría. Ahora pues, quítense sus joyas, para que Yo sepa qué he de hacer con ustedes.’”
