A nd Jehoash king of Israel sendeth unto Amaziah king of Judah, saying, `The thorn that in Lebanon hath sent unto the cedar that in Lebanon, saying, Give thy daughter to my son for a wife; and pass by doth a beast of the field that in Lebanon, and treadeth down the thorn.

Y Jeoás, rey de Israel, envió mensaje a Amasías, rey de Judá, diciendo: El cardo que estaba en el Líbano envió a decir al cedro que estaba en el Líbano, diciendo: “Da tu hija por mujer a mi hijo.” Pero pasó una fiera que estaba en el Líbano, y pisoteó el cardo.
