W hen the people had come into the camp, the elders of Israel said, “Why has Yahweh defeated us today before the Philistines? Let us get the ark of Yahweh’s covenant out of Shiloh and bring it to us, that it may come among us, and save us out of the hand of our enemies.”

Khi dân sự đã trở về trại quân, các trưởng lão Y-sơ-ra-ên nói rằng: Cớ sao ngày nay Đức Giê-hô-va để cho dân Phi-li-tin đánh bại chúng ta? Chúng ta hãy đi thỉnh hòm giao ước của Đức Giê-hô-va ở tại Si-lô; phải đem hòm đó về tại giữa chúng ta, nó ắt sẽ giải cứu chúng ta khỏi tay kẻ cừu địch chúng ta!
