N ow David had said, “Surely in vain have I kept all that this fellow has in the wilderness, so that nothing was missed of all that pertained to him. He has returned me evil for good.

وَقالَ داوُدُ: «كانَ كُلُّ ما فَعَلْتُهُ مِنْ أجلِ نابالَ عَبَثاً. حَمَيتُ أملاكَهُ فِي البَرِّيَّةِ. وَحَرِصتُ عَلَى أنْ لا يَضِيعَ خَرُوفٌ واحِدٌ مِنْ خِرافِهِ. كُنتُ طَيِّباً مَعَهُ، فَلَمْ يُعامِلْنِي بِالمِثلِ.
